Lions Camp of IllinoisCamp Lions Illinois

Lions Camp of Illinois provides summer camps for deaf, hard of hearing, blind, and low vision individuals. Our goal for the summer is to provide an environment that is safe and fun as well as a quality learning experience for the Lion's campers.  We focus on the kids, encouraging social interactions as well as helping them develop as people/young adults.  Sometimes we are required to become a friendly ear to the campers, using our experiences to provide a positive and healthy suggestion to encourage the camper to build their self-esteem as well as their personality.

To better serve our campers, we try our best to provide counselors who have similar needs, or work in fields within the Deaf and Blind cultures.  Leading activities are sometimes easier because the staff is already familiar with the best way to make it successful by using their past experiences.  All of our staff members go above and beyond to make every summer better than the previous year.  Many of the campers go the entire year without having people who have had similar experiences to talk to and socialize with.  Because of this, many campers look forward to this one week for the entire year. Your campers are making friendships that will last a lifetime!

We are pleased to have this opportunity to represent you in Camp Lions.  We look forward to bringing a successful program to the campers who you scholarship.  Without your help this would not be possible, we thank you for the chance to provide a program that is favorable and a wonderful experience for all who are involved.

Camp Lions for Youth offers a wide selection of things for youth age 7 to 17 years old with low vision, blind or deaf/hard of hearing to do such as swimming, canoeing and cookouts to participating in innovative arts and crafts and nature programs. Most importantly, Camp Lions creates a safe environment to make new friends, with others of similar abilities, outside of the educational or therapeutic arenas.

Camp Lions For Youth began in 1957 and is funded by individual club donations and from voluntary contributions made by the general public. All camp programs are FREE to eligible campers of any economic status.
